Urban Heat Academy is an after school/ enrichment organization that prepares youth to attend college by increasing their academic performance, building positive self-esteem and minimizing violence. Our programs ensure students are on track to taking the proper steps towards college preparation. Health:

Our mission is to help improve communities by providing enrichment activities that will help to enable and encourage our youth to be the best that they can be. Our primary focus is for kids in grades K-12 to understand the importance of being healthy and continuously being physically active, understanding the importance of exercising, eating healthy, and personal hygiene.

Education:

The Urban Heat Program believes that it is critical for all children in today society be too prepared for college, which has become a requirement in order to be successful in today�€™s rapid technical economy. The Urban Heat program provides tutoring for students who struggles academically in Math, Science, and English as well as provides fine Art programs (Poster Contest, drill/step programs) which will allow children to be creative, develop skills through dance and performing arts.

Awareness:

The dropout rate continues to increase throughout several school districts across the nation. It is critical for our youth understand how to deal with the very many challenges that they are faced with today in today�€™s society. Things such as, how to resolve conflict; how to express themselves and communicate with peers; how to be a leader and hold true to their values and beliefs; how to choose their friends carefully and carry themselves in a professional manner when needed. By providing conferences and seminars for both students and parents, traveling to visit other places and studying different cultures, as well honoring young people who make a difference in their community. Our mission is to help students stand out and let their light shine.

Teamwork:

We want to help create well-rounded students who will infect those around them with positivity, while they themselves continue to implement change. The Urban Heat academy program is dedicated to providing mentor programs, student forums, and community outreach experiences that will improve communities�€™ one child at a time.
Our Mission: Is to provide children particularly in low-socio economic communities with the necessary tools to develop skills that will allow them to become the change agents needed to made a difference and improve the communities.

OUR Vision
It is envisioned that all students are prepared with the academic skills, knowledge, motivation and physical well- being to successfully further their education and becoming productive citizens.
It is our vision to provide a qualitative, comprehensive education through enrichment activities, which will meet the educational needs of each student. Our program and instruction provided will enable students to develop high esteem, master content, think critically, and value learning. The learning environment will provide the support, challenge and opportunity for students to develop their fullest intellectual, social, and physical potential. The emotional environment will be friendly, supportive and positive. The physical environment will be maintained, clean and responsive to the educational program and the safety of the students.
The entire UHA community will work towards this vision by forming partnerships for education. Employees will be motivated and dedicated using data to help drive instructional practices and research to help support enrichment activities. Parents will support the education of their children by being involved and extending their own learning. Community organizations and businesses will support the education of pupils in unique ways as their recourses permit. All of these people and groups will work together in a collegial fashion to help create the ideal education/enrichment program.
